Football is back. Each week I will pick 5 games that I like the number on. Play responsibly.
WEEK 1 CFB
8/29 8ET Georgia Tech +37 (-110) at #1 Clemson
I understand Clemson is the best team in the country and expect them to win this game by 3 or more possessions. But Georgia Tech has a new coach and culture and I expect them to fight for 4 quarters…37 seems like a bit too much.
Clemson 42 GT 21
8/29 10:15ET #14 Utah at BYU +7 (-110)
Another Thursday night special, the Utes should win, but the Holy War is almost always an absolute dogfight. Between the Utah (over)hype, the game being in Provo, and it being Week 1, I like the Cougs and a TD. Holy War baby!
Utah 22 BYU 19
8/30 10ET Oklahoma State -14 (-110) at Oregon State
Oregon State is a trash heap of a program. Even with the QB change for OK ST and the home advantage, I don’t see the Beavers hanging around in this Friday night sleeper.
Oklahoma State 48 Oregon State 21
8/31 7:30ET #11 Oregon vs #16 Auburn -3.5 (-110) at Neutral Site (Arlington,TX)
Herbert is overrated, he has yet to really prove he is anything more than a prototype. I like that Auburn has a crowd advantage, Malzahn is back calling plays, and the SEC generally has bigger and better football players than the Pac-12. Unless Freshman QB Bo Nix left his jockstrap in his high school locker, I believe the Tigers will win.
#16 Auburn 33 #11 Oregon 24
8/31 10:30ET Fresno State +13.5 (-110) at USC
Clay Helton has a dismal history on Week 1 as the coach of USC. I believe this will be his last year coaching the Trojans and they will continue to play like a Clay Helton team. A lot of those Fresno boys got overlooked by USC back in high school, they will play with a chip.
USC 27 Fresno State 20
Extra games to keep an eye out for:
Northwestern at Stanford, Virginia Tech at Boston College, Boise State at Florida State
