Chiefs All Pro Safety Eric Berry’s 2017 season is done after rupturing his achilles last night against the Patriots. He is coming off a impressive 2016 campaign that saw him make his fifth pro bowl. The Chiefs rewarded him this offseason with a six-year, $78 million contract, making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL. Berry is the heart and soul of the chiefs defense and he will be sorely missed. We should not doubt Berry’s ability to overcome adversity as he overcame Hodgkins lymphoma in 2014 making the pro bowl the following season in 2015. Daniel Sorensen and rookie Leon McQuay will compete to replace Berry.
