NFL Headline Round-Up

The NFL has been the wild west in the past week with cuts, trades, and signings. Here are all of the latest and most important headlines in one place.

The Riversmobile

Okay, maybe not that important, but Rivers’ decked out SUV/QB room is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. If only I could’ve taken my cross-country road trip in this thing instead of a mini-van.

Odell Beckham Not Practicing

Beckham is still rehabbing from an ankle injury suffered in week 2 of the preseason. Both the Cowboys with Zeke and the Giants may be without their biggest weapons week one.

Jacoby Brissett for Phillip Dorsett Trade

The Colts have been looking to trade their speedster receiver for a while now, who to their own admission was over drafted. In return, they get Jacoby Brissett who ideally will be their backup QB of the future. It will be interesting to watch how long Scott Tolzien can stave off the hard-charging Brissett before Luck returns.

T.J. Ward Released by Broncos

Ward was a pro-bowl safety who the Broncos decided to cut ties with in favor of younger and more importantly less expensive Justin Simmons. Ward signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soon after, a move I really like for their secondary. Ward called the timing of the release ‘unprofessional’.

DeAndre Hopkins Signs 5-Year $81 Million Extension

Good for the Clemson grad who cashed in last week. Hopkins is a fringe top 10 WR who lives in Demayrius Thomas/Michael Thomas/Alshon Jeffery land. Hopefully he and Deshaun Watson can become good buds.

Su’a Cravens put on Exempt/Left Squad List

A surprising story came out this past week about Cravens having to be talked out of retirement by the Redskins brass. The 2016 2nd round pick has been dealing with injuries ever since he came into the league, and it seems that the frustration is growing.

Brock Osweiler Back in Mile High

In what has been a whirlwind 18 months for the quarterback, Osweiler finds himself right back where he started. This move was prompted by a Paxton Lynch injury that will keep the 22nd overall pick out for the next 4 weeks. It’s unclear what the Broncos will do when it’s time for Lynch to return.

Dolphins sign T.J. McDonald to a 4-year Deal

McDonald was signed on a one-year deal back in March, and the ‘phins are doubling down on the safety. McDonald will replace Isa Abdul-Quddus who suffered a career ending injury last year. McDonald will make his debut in week 9 due to suspension.

Sammie Coates Traded to Cleveland

Coates was a promising player who ultimately never could take the next step in Pittsburgh. A crowded receiver room forced him out to WR-needy Cleveland where he can make an impact.

John Ross Out for First Few Weeks

Ross suffered a knee injury in the 4th preseason game and will be sidelined for the first few games. The Bengals seem to be eyeing a week 3 debut for their new toy. Ross at #9 overall was rich for me and injuries is why I didn’t endorse him as a prospect.

J.J. Watt closes in on $20 Million for his Harvey Relief Fundraiser

Good on you, sir. Donate here.
