The Boy King Jared Goff has a new toy.
The Buffalo Bills traded their star wide receiver and a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for cornerback E.J. Gaines and the Rams’ 2018 second-round pick, a defying move for both franchises.
The Bills have a new head on their shoulders with first year head coach Sean McDermott and first year general manager Brandon Beane. This seems to be their way of putting a stamp on their regiment, cutting ties with the 2014 draft blockbuster that landed them Watkins with the fourth pick. They return the Rams second round pick and add a valuable piece in the secondary with starter E.J. Gaines, after losing Ronald Darby in the Jordan Matthews trade.
With Sammy Watkins the Rams get a number one receiver with elite talent. This talent has unfortunately been hampered by injury and inconsistent, run heavy offenses in Buffalo. First year head coach Sean McVay has a chance to give Watkins a fresh start and give him the chance to be a true wide receiver one. Second year quarterback Jared Goff now has all the requisite tools to lead a competent offense and another poor showing could put Goff on the shortest of leashes.
