Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill scrambled out of bounds in practice then fell to the ground, and hearts sank across Miami-Dade county.
Here’s a video of the play and injury.
A sprained ACL and MCL ended Tannehill’s 2016 year after 13 games, and since Tannehill decided not to undergo surgery to fix the knee it was likely for him to re-injure it at some point. It’s still unclear whether Tannehill will miss the entire season, but even if he misses half the year it’s a big blow to the Dolphins prospects in 2017. The Dolphins will get a few opinions from doctors before making an official decision.
The Dolphins are in the market for a QB even if they plan to roll out Matt Moore as their stater. The two top names would be the controversy lightning rod in Colin Kaepernick and Jay Cutler, who reportedly may be willing to pull out of his deal should he be a starter for the team. I believe Cutler would be the best choice for Miami, but him signing on would likely be dependent on Tannehill being out the whole year.
Adam Gase will have his hands full, but a year without Tannehill would likely spell a year with no January football for Miami.
