Glover Quin will be a Lion through 2019.
On the first day of practice, the Lions gave him a 2-year extension worth $13 Million including $9.5 in guarantees. Quin has been the most consistent and best member of the Lions’ secondary since he joined the team four years ago. He has 16 picks with the Lions, including a 7 INT year in 2014 which was good for best in the NFL.
Quin is not only a great player, but also a leader in all fronts on the Lions. He is the shot-caller pre-snap for the Lions secondary and can be seen in the middle of the pre-game team huddle giving an impassioned speech. As one of the best safeties in the league, his extension is very team friendly. Quin loves playing in Detroit and we love having him here.
GM Bob Quinn gave Quin a lot of guarantees in lieu of a higher total contract worth for a few reasons. First of all, Quin has yet to miss a game as a member of the Detroit Lions. Second, it gives the Lions more cap room to extend Stafford and sign Ziggy Ansah, two big ticket players.
Welcome back Glover, hopefully that Big Kahuna Cheesesteak I made you back in 2015 continues to give you fuel for your next three seasons in Detroit.
